Guest blogger Katie Dupuis shares her Beautylicious treatment experience:
Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Jeanet Salon as a part of the Beautylicious promotion here in Toronto. Beautylicious is similar to Winterlicious and Summerlicious — a seasonal event where restaurants in the city set a fixed price menu for a limited time. Same goes for salons and spas now, too! Earlier this month, you could purchase packages of spa services for a reduced rate at some of the city’s top places. I checked out Jeanet Spa and Salon in Yorkville for a very relaxing manicure.

I hadn’t realized until I arrived that Salon Jeanet has worked on a number of celebs -– big name celebs like Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst. There are autographed posters all over the walls from Jeanet’s glittery clientele. There’s no wonder, either – esthetician Amanda gave my hands the royal treatment. My nails were scrubbed and buffed and polished and the hand massage that went with it was wonderful after a long day at work. I think my hands actually said, “Katie, we’re going on strike if you don’t take us to this place more often.” I had my nails painted a chic dark grey — an OPI colour called Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees from the Espana Collection — which I may have to buy. I love it!

My only complaint — and it’s minor — was that my nails still weren’t completely dry by the time I went to bed a few hours later, and I ended up with light creases in the polish. Next time I’ll avoid going to get the treatment so late in the day. It wasn’t for lack of trying, either, to get a smooth polish: Amanda even did my coat up for me.

You’ve probably heard of bootylicious from Beyoncé, but Beautylicious? If you’ve taken part in a Summerlicious or Winterlicious event you’ll know it’s a magical time of year where restaurants open their doors to everyone (penniless or not) to taste their gourmet foods at a fraction of the price. I love it because it gets me in the doors of places I might not ordinarily venture into. And now there’s a beauty event that is doing the same.

Beautylicious, taking place in Toronto’s Bloor Yorkville area is sponsored by over 50 salons and spas to get you the services you love or want to try out for the first time for a discount price. For $25, $75 or $125 dollars you can try out unique services at high-end hot spots.
Take a gander at some of the fun things you can have done:
- Purifying White Clay Drape body wrap: Clarins Skin Spa (sign me up for this one!)
- Cosmetic facial acupuncture: The Scollard Acupuncture Pain Clinic (all the rage)
- Radio Frequency skin tightening for neck and face, and radio frequency body slimming and contouring: In Beauty Med Spa
- Metabolic Blueprint consultation: Evolution Fitness
- Photofacial with compulift: Healthworks Medical Centre
- Caviar Hand and Foot Treatment: Caprice Salon & Spa (how decadent!)
And this upcoming Sunday you can attend a free Beautylicious preview event to learn all about it.
This free preview event will be a health, beauty and wellness symposium showcasing the service offerings of Beautylicious and the latest in beauty and cosmetic trends. You’ll get the chance to hear expert advice from Desiree Tordecillo, VP Global Education & Pro-Artistry, Stila Cosmetics on the latest fall beauty colour trends, Dr. Diane Wong, Cosmetic Physician on non-surgical cosmetic treatments, and Dr. Cory Torgerson, a Cosmetic Facial Plastic Surgeon.
WHEN: Sunday, October 18th
