The best piece of mail I ever received was the very first love letter my boyfriend (now husband) wrote me. There is nothing like a good love letter to make your heart swell.

The best piece of mail I ever received was from my best friend.
Before I had my children, I used work as a travel agent and travelled the world. Once I had my children I decided to concentrate on a career that kept me closer to home (freelance writer). So, I gave up my glamourous, jet setting lifestyle and was left with my memories.
Imagine my delight when I received a package from my girlfriend with a stack of all of the postcards I had ever sent her from my years of travel! It was like a beautiful travelogue of my journeys from another life.
I have since returned the gift of ‘returning correspondence’ to a few friends. They were excited to receive such a gift and cherished their words describing another time for them.

The best piece of mail I ever received was a birthday card from my sister. She made it herself. It had purple velvet as part of the image, just gorgeous. She is a very talented, creative spirit and I love that she made a special effort just for me.

The best piece of mail I ever received was from my high school Key Club teacher/sponsor. He wrote me a letter after my Mom passed away. The letter brought comfort at a time when I really needed it. It touched my heart and eased my pain. The words were just what I needed to hear and helped me to carry on when life seemed overwhelming.

My best piece of mail would also be a homemade card/project made for me by my 2 young nieces. It was a sympathy card shaped to look like the sun, for the loss of my partner.
When I opened the envelope and pulled out the card (replete with a magic poem), out came a handful of little gold foil hearts. Each was to represent their love and rays of sunshine, to take away some of the darkness that I was feeling from his loss.
It warmed my heart and still does to this very day!

This might sound like the worst piece of mail to get…but for me it was the best. It was a “dear john/jane” letter from my boyfriend breaking up with me. Through mutual friends of ours, I met my wonderful husband two years later.
