In case you’re wondering what happened in my floor hockey team’s second (and last) playoff game last week, we won! It was intense: The other team fought hard. But we fought harder and played better than we ever have. (And I was this close to getting my first assist!)
Above is a photo of the rink we played in all season (and our formidable goalie, Pauline). It’s sad that the season is over, but just last night, we had our first practice in anticipation of the fall/winter season…

Don’t we look tough? This is from a practice last month, and yes, that’s me in the middle, the one who looks like a little kid. (Both photos were taken by my teammate, the awesome Dana Lacey.)
Since I started playing floor hockey, I’ve been hearing from so many friends — none of whom would call themselves “athletic types” — that they, too, play on recreational sports teams. One friend plays soccer, another volleyball, a couple play softball (and so does my brother), another played dodgeball last year… Until this summer, I had no idea that recreational sports were so popular, though now I can see the appeal: regular “workouts,” you can play with friends, competition is motivating (and so’s winning!). I’d love to know: Do any of you play on a rec sports team?
