I just realized: I’m not a very healthy person on the weekends, especially when it comes to exercise. During the week, I’m usually pretty good. I look at my schedule and figure out when I can fit in a workout. I try to get at least one gym session in, and the other days, I exercise at home, play floor hockey (did I mention that the new season started?) or plan a night-out dancing. I usually manage to exercise at least three times during the week.
But on the weekends, my healthy intentions fall by the wayside.
This weekend, I went ice-skating on Friday night — a leisurely “workout,” though I was on the rink for at least an hour. This weekend, I also watched two hockey games (the Montreal Canadiens won over the L.A. Kings on Saturday, but lost to the Boston Bruins on Sunday afternoon). And that was the extent of my exercise.
If anything, I should be exercising more on the weekends, because I should have more time, but Saturday and Sunday is when I get caught up on home stuff — laundry, cleaning, grocery-shopping, meal prep for the next week. Not that my weekend eating habits are much better, since one of my favourite weekend rituals is brunch with friends.
Do you keep up with your healthy habits on the weekend?
